About Me

Background:  Born Michael Vincent Metz in Detroit Michigan.
Coming from a family of artists, he began private art studies at the age of 8 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan per the direction of his Grandmother on his father's side, who was the chief artist of their clan. He proceeded with art studies through an additional 8 years of grade school and then another 4 years during high school opting for all art-based electives and creative study groups.

After attending CCS (The Center for Creative Studies), in Detroit Michigan, he received a degree in Fine Arts.

His Grandmother was a major influence in his creative passions, always encouraging him to see what was not evident, and inspiring him to look beyond the immediate.
She continued to be a positive influence in his artistic career until her death at the age of 92.

Trained originally in the medium of charcoal and pastels, his studies later evolved to include: watercolor, acrylic, oil, pencil, graphite, ink and fresco.  Mural studies also occurred during his mid-years of training.  Some sculptural and photography studies also progressed along the way.   He was able to add digital media studies to the latter part of his training.  Areas of concentration were Art History, Composition, Perspective, Light & Color Theory and Technique.

Preferred styles include: surrealism, abstract, non-objective, and traditional. Influences along the way: M.C.Escher, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso
In April of 2001 he moved to New York City to pursue his dream of doing art full time. He currently resides and works in Atlanta.
